KELLY CLARKSON

by KAY BROADBENT

Kelly Clarkson’s vocals were on full display Thursday, she seemed well rested and ready to go, after being away from the touring circuit for nearly two years. Comfortably taking the stage barefoot and confidently walking the runway so she could be closer to her fans!

The moment where it all came together was during “Piece By Piece,” from her latest album which she  tearfully explained was about her father who was not present in her youth and also pays tribute to her husband Brandon. Sung only to acapella piano, was genuinely emotional and touched the hearts of all fans young and old.

Other highlights of the show were the performances of “Nostalgic,” “Invincible,” a medley of “Because of You” and “Breakaway,” “Take You High” and fan Fav “Stronger.”really brought the crowd to their feet.

She introduced YouTube singer Mia Silva.  Mia proved she had a set of pipes herself performing Gnarls Barkley “Crazy.”

The Fan request of the evening was a heartfelt version of Elvis’s,” “Can’t help falling in love with you” Clarkson endearingly stated she wanted to meet the fan who chose it after the show.

Pentatonix the opening quintet, joined her for “Heartbeat Song” and provided the opening harmonies for a smash-up of Clarkson’s “Walk Away” and she really got the crowd into her rendition of Ronson’s “Uptown Funk.” Clarkson was very engaging with her fans shaking hands while exiting down the runway.

Clarkson turned over the most of encore rendition of the hit “Bang Bang,” to her three backup singers, showing her appreciation by highlighting their vocal talents.  Before her final exit she took control again with “Miss Independent” and closing with “Since U Been Gone.
