On a brutally cold night in Chicago, pop-punk band Mest headlined Concord Music Hall Saturday January 16th. Natives of the far south suburb Blue Island, Mest rocked out to a near capacity hometown crowd of super pumped up fans. Opening the show with “Long Days Long Nights” and “Wasting Time” both from 2000’s Wasting Time album, they quickly ran through a 19 song set.
Singer and guitarist Tony Lovato was in great form, sounding great and looking fine, jumping around with lead guitarist Jeremiah Rangel and cousin/bassist Matt Lovato and keeping the show hot. Drummer Nick Gigler hit the skins with his usual strength, not showing any sign of any issues since his 2005 surgery.
Drawing from their entire catalog, Mest worked their way through some of their best, including “2000 Miles”, “Cadillac”, “Mother’s Prayer”, “Jaded”, and “Kiss Me, Kill Me”. Finishing up strong with a three song encore of “Drawing Board”, “Fuct Up Kid”, and “Rooftops”, Mest wowed the very appreciative crowd. You can experience Mest live as they tour across the country.
